A rather unusual filmic oddity--as would be anything conjured up by Rene Vienet--Les Filles de Kamare is the situationist director',s glommed together re-imagining of two Japanese films--Ishii',s Wild Woman Boss Story: Total Lynch and Norifumi Suzuki',s Horror High School Women: Violent Lynch Classroom--intercut with French porno footage and worked out with completely revamped subtitles. It',s Marxist satire set to two violent but not particularly outstanding romanpornos (Suzuki',s being the better of the two)--to be honest I watched this four or five times over the past few weeks and I am still scratching my head at some things.The re-written subtitles are expressions of kneejerk left-wing politics, they may have seemed dated even at t he time of this film',s creation for what I know. The conspiracies and cover-ups are over the top, the crimes are heinous, and the insidious plots of the masterminds of mayhem are pervasive and often executed by idiots. The film fails at being shocking, it fails to create intrigue, it fails to generate support for whatever its cause is, but it holds your attention for no other reason than because of the sheer lunacy behind it. It',s punk rock comic book film-making for the intellectual set, but it does seem a bit shallow and the revolutionary themes seem tired. And it',s not nearly dirty enough for what it aspires to be, which is okay as I have no idea what that actually is anyway. Was the above comment useful to you?
